In 2014, Archbishop Mark launched the new Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults Prevision and Protection Policy. The central message of the Policy is grounded in the policy statement:
The Archdiocese of Brisbane holds that children, young people and vulnerable adults are a gift from God with an intrinsic right to dignity of life, respect and security from physical and emotional harm.
They are to be treasured, nurtured and safeguarded by all.
This means that everyone in the church must ensure that the fundamental rights of children, young people and vulnerable adults are respected. This will be achieved through the development of respectful relationships and a commitment to safety, embracing appropriate boundaries, behaviours and practices, in accordance with the Archdiocesan Code of Ethical Behaviour and adherence to legislative imperatives of the State.
To meet this commitment, our parish is required to fulfil a number of compliance matters. These have already been put in place; however your support is needed to ensure that our Parish continues to meet all the requirements of the policy implementation.

Youth Minister Appointed
Thanks to a generous grant from the Catholic Foundation we are able to employ a part time Coordinator of Youth activities. I am pleased to announce that Chris Lysaght has been appointed to the role beginning this week. He comes with long experience both here and in New Zealand where he comes from (he is a Kiwi).
Gap Year Ministry
Further to that this year we are continuing our “Gap Year” youth leadership with the appointment of Sophie McNaught and Jane Mary McMaster. They will work with the support of Chris. Sophie had intended to join NET ministries but was unable. So it is great to be able to offer her this ministry. Congratulations to them both.
