St Josephs Church Nambour
St Josephs Church Nambour
From the 10th July we are able to have about 68 people attend Mass at St Joseph' Church.
That would be a lot of phone calls from those wanting to book their attendance with two Masses each Weekend. Mass times will be 6.00pm Saturday evening and 8.00am Sunday Morning.

So now we are pleased to be able to provide an online booking service.
Just click on the following link and enter your details and the Mass you wish to attend:
Book your attendance at Mass

You are still able to register your attendance by phone or email.

From the 10th July it will no longer be necessary to pre-book your attendance at weekday Masses. Just enter your name and details on the blank sheet at the door as you arrive.

This year has been a very difficult one for our communities.  Unfortunately due to the combination of extremely low returns on investments and the impact of the corona virus we are not in a position to offer the Fr Francis Heffernan Bursary for 2020.  The timing of the restrictions on activities has meant that some young people were not given the same opportunities as others to demonstrate their achievements.  So in the interest of fairness to all, the decision was taken to declare 2020 a “Fallow Year” for the Bursary.

Thank you for you continued support of young achievers in our region.  We hope to be in contact with you next year to announce our next round of this encouragement award.

Some families in the Parish are preparing their children to celebrate their First Eucharist in coming months. Many burdens are placed on families in this time when restrictions on gathering and movement are in place.

Perhaps it is a good time to think about the simple things we can do together. Could I suggest that one thing would be to introduce or reintroduce a simple grace before meals. That is a great way for parents to witness their faith to children that does not take much time but helps focus their attention to spritual things.

The traditional and well tried grace before meals is as follows:
Bless us, O Lord, and these Your gifts, which we are about to receive by Your goodness, through Christ our Lord. Amen.

There are many prayers that could be used. And as many families do invite those at table to add their own prayer however simple to the feast. And especially a prayer for those who are hungry or in need in our community.

And to end a meal we could use the blessing that we use so often at Mass: The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, be with us all for ever. Amen.

Stage 3 Approaches!
From the 10th July we enter Stage 3 of the reopening of Churches.
From that date weekend Masses will be at the following times at St Joseph's:

6.00pm Saturday evening
8.00am Sunday morning (NOTE)

We will trial this timetable during Stage 3. From that day 100 people are permitted to gather. However, with the 4 sq m rule still applying this means we can only accept 68 people in St Joseph’s Church. Pre-booking will still be necessary.

Weekday Liturgies will be as now: Monday 8.00am, Wednesday 10.00am, Friday 8.00am.
There will be only one Liturgy of the Word with Holy Communion on Thursdays only at 5.30pm.

Reconciliation will return to the usual times of 4.30pm Saturday and 9.30am Wednesday.
The now familiar hygiene requirements still apply.
